Message From The President
October 27, 2012
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Western Regional Chapter of IAATI,
I would like to thank the members of the Western Regional Chapter – International Association of Auto Theft Investigators for the opportunity to serve as your newly elected 2012 / 2013 President.
For those that I have not met, my name is Bud Hood, and I am a retired auto theft detective from the Orange County Sheriff's Department. During the extent of my professional career I had the great pleasure of working in various divisions from county jails, harbor patrol, street patrol, and a final promotion to detective. I worked within the auto theft department for 2 years and was re-assigned to the Orange County Auto Theft Taskforce (OCATT) until I retired. Further, I served as President of WSATI (Western States Auto Theft Investigators, Southern Chapter) in 2007.
I would like to first encourage you to be active and utilize resources that IAATI provides. and encourage your coworkers to join our organization. As members, your knowledge and ability to easily communicate only strengthens our organization. IAATI provides a constantly growing and improving online ecosystem that provides contacts for every state in our country, and every nation around the world. It is these contacts that are ready to assist you in your investigations or act as a reference to technical information. Most importantly, you will find that fellow members are more than willing to share information and data to assist you in your investigations.
Your local chapter, WRC-IAATI, offers the same level of assistance as mentioned before, where a phone call or an email to a fellow member can often provide valuable insight to your investigation. I encourage you to contact your fellow members and discuss cases and possible solutions, as it becomes an important foundation for the organization's success.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the WRC Board members and Directors for their leadership, and attention to detail. This organization has grown beyond the boundaries of my expectations, and provided critical training to its members. It is my sincere wish to continue that tradition.
It is the beginning of a new year, and as such, it is also the time to renew your local organization and IAATI dues. I thank you in advance for your membership.
One last request; if you are interested in providing training to others please contact me as we will be organizing local training programs. Your involvement will be greatly appreciated.
Bud G. Hood
2012-2013 Western Regional Chapter President
