Message From The President
July 23, 2017
I would like to begin by thanking the Ladies and Gentlemen of the Western Regional Chapter of IAATI,
I would like to thank the members of the Western Regional Chapter – International Association of Auto Theft Investigators for the opportunity to serve as your newly elected 2016-2017 President.
For those that I have not met, my name is John Bartolone, and I am a Supervising Investigator with the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles. During the extent of my 24 year professional career with the State of California I have had the great pleasure of working in various assignments. Throughout my career as a DMV Investigator I have been required to work a variety of investigations, however, my area of expertise and my passion has always been auto theft related investigations. In 2008 I was assigned to the Orange County Auto Theft Taskforce (OCATT) and furthered this passion. I later served as President of WSATI (Western States Auto Theft Investigators, Southern Chapter) in 2010. I am currently assigned to the Los Angeles-Metro district of DMV Investigations in Los Angeles County.
I would like to first encourage you to be active and utilize resources that IAATI provides. Please encourage your coworkers to join our organization. As members, your knowledge and ability to easily communicate only strengthens our organization. IAATI provides a constantly growing and improving online ecosystem that provides contacts for every state in our country, and every nation around the world. It is these contacts that are ready to assist you in your investigations or act as a reference to technical information. Most importantly, you will find that fellow members are more than willing to share information and data to assist you in your investigations.
Your local chapter, WRC-IAATI, offers the same level of assistance as mentioned before, where a phone call or an email to a fellow member can often provide valuable insight to your investigation. I encourage you to contact your fellow members and discuss cases and possible solutions, as it becomes an important foundation for the organization's success.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the WRC Board members and Directors for their leadership, and attention to detail. I would specifically like to thank members Past Presidents Dennis Frias, Rick Greenwood and Gary Labb for providing me with the leadership and mentoring needed to navigate this station. This organization has grown beyond the boundaries of my expectations, and provided critical training to its members. It is my sincere wish to continue that tradition.
It is the beginning of a new year, and as such, it is also the time to renew your local organization and IAATI dues. I thank you in advance for your membership.
One last request; if you are interested in providing training to others please contact me as we will be organizing local training programs. Your involvement will be greatly appreciated.
John J. Bartolone
2016-2017 Western Regional Chapter President
